…As families are the bedrock of any civilization, the government has an interest in their well-being and stability. Government also has a vested interest in ensuring that children are cared and provided for in the best environment possible. Social science shows that, all other factors being equal, children do best when raised by their married biological mother and father. Hence, government should seek to ensure that, whenever possible, children are raised in such an environment. This is why government recognizes marriage and bestows financial and legal benefits on it: to ensure stable families where children, wherever possible, are raised in the best environment: with their married biological mother and father.
It’s not discrimination and bigotry to treat different things differently. While same-sex couples are capable of love and commitment, they are not capable of the unique love and commitment found in marriage. Marriage is a unique type of love and commitment that only a man and a woman are capable of. Thus, government is justified in solely recognizing unions of opposite-sex couples as marriages.

Here’s another article written by a well-meaning person, trying to rationalize a biggoted point of view. I think it’s troubling that people my age are still holding fast to the biblical definition of marriage and trying to impose it on all, included non-christians. You’ll find this article meantioning debunking the general idea of what marriage even is. He wades through the cultural idea of what a marriage is and compare it to the legal definition and round it out with his percieved intentions behind such a law.
I know it seems pretty cut and dry, but when he gets done with the article, you have to realize that at this point he is excluding blended families as well as LGBT couples. It’s still a flawed point of view, in that it also goes as far as implying that anyone but biological parents are fit to raise children.
I’m summarizing here as I’m at work and supposed to be working on a project. Feel free to reply or message me if you have something to add or debate - I absolutely welcome it.
I just really wanted to get this off my chest and out there because it felt like there needed to be some kind of response.
thank you
Science is not the best barometer in terms of childcare, because one cannot merely boil it down to one single factor...
